Agenda

-As we have the Australian opal trail listed in the Tucson opal advertisement and our web site also listed should the association make a contribution of say $ 600 to the advertisement cost as all members will benefit.

-Should the Opal association  purchase the opal pack from Cody opals. This could be used for education purposes and display. The cost is 5000 usd. There is still a strong demand for members wanting to do there own certificates and we could use this kit to test members before allowing to issue certificates with a strong legal disclaimer.

-The smart chart doesn’t seem to be available-should we make up our own chart as there is a demand from jewelers ect world wide.

WORLD BANK REPORT ON ETHIOPIA AND AUSTRALIAN OPAL

By Member News

There is a interesting document of 135 pages in which the world bank hired some consultants to research the gemstone and opal industries of Ethiopia and other countries.

The Australian opal industry is mentioned on page 62-it is hard hitting but interesting to hear about perspectives from outside our industry. What can we learn from this!

It goes into detail on how the Ethiopian government regulations is having a damaging effect on the industry.

TUCSON OPAL TRAIL

By Member News

This is the final version for the double page add in the Tucson show guide. The size per page is close to A4 size. The symbol next to your name relates to the show you are doing.

Len Cram was kind enough to send us some opal photos but unfortunately we were told the yowah and boulder photos couldn’t be used. I apologize for this as i should have sent the photos away earlier but i will make sure they are included next year.

After the Tucson show we would like to receive feed back and suggestions on the add and how it worked for you.
